LONDON CHESS CLASSIC & CHESS AND EDUCATION CONFERENCE

Chess in Schools and Communities organizes the 6th London Chess Classic which will be held from 6th to 14th December, 2014 at the Olympia Conference Centre in Kensington, London.

The festival consists of several events, of which the main is the London Chess Classic, which is to be held 10-14 December. The ‘Super Six’  are the World Top Grandmasters Fabiano Caruana, Viswanathan Anand, Anish Giri, Hikaru Nakamura, Vladimir Kramnik and Michael Adams.

Apart from the traditional Super GM classic tournament, there is also a very attractive Super Rapidplay Open. The event will take place 6-7th December with the prize fund of ?25,000. The Super Rapidplay is a 10-round open tournament with the time control of 25 minutes plus a 10 second increment per move from move one. The tournament has no grading sections; instead all players play in the same section and generous grading prizes have been added. This event will feature all of the players who are taking part in the main event of the London Chess Classic along with many GMs and IMs.

In the first round, the six super Grandmasters from the London Chess Classic will play against junior players who have been selected from a qualifying junior tournament. Pairings for all other rounds will be made according to the Swiss pairing rules.

Chess and Mathematics – Chess and Education Conference

Tconference2014he international Chess and Education conference will take place at the beginning of the London Chess Classic, 6-7  December. With a rich educational programme it will gather the leading experts in the fields of chess and mathematics  education.

FIDE Open (9 round Swiss) with a guaranteed ?11,500 prize fund and GM and IM norm opportunities, which will be held from 8th until 14th December.

Weekday Tournaments (5 round Swiss) with 2 sections: FIDE U2000 & ECF U135. The event will be held from 8th until 12th December.

Weekend Tournaments (5 round Swiss) with 4 sections: Open, U2000, U1800 (all FIDE Rated), ECF U120. The event will be held from 12th until 14th December.
