SUMMER CHESS FESTIVALS ON THE ROMANIAN BLACK SEA COAST

More than 800 players are expected to participate in the traditional chess festivals in Romania.

“FISCA” XX edition is the first tournament in a row, starting from 24th June to 3rd July in Cap Aurora resort, followed by “Trofeul Litoralului” XXVI edition from 27th June to 7th July in Eforie Nord resort, and finally the XXV edition of the “Trofeul Techirghiol” which will take place 7 – 14 July, in the town of Techirghiol.

All events include Open tournaments, Youth Swiss tournaments for various age categories, Solving and Blitz competitions.

The organizers provided various accommodation options at very attractive prices.

The Romanian Black Sea resorts stretch from the Danube Delta in the north down to the Bulgarian Black Sea Coast in the south, along 275 kilometers of coastline.

The most important resort is Mamaia, situated north of the city of Constanta, where the 17th European Individual Women’s Chess Championship 2016 was held recently.

Some resorts have names from Roman and Greek mythology, such as Eforie Nord, Neptun, Venus, Saturn, Jupiter and Olimp. Other resorts include Eforie Sud, 2 Mai and Cap Aurora.
