International Open Tournament 40 years White Tower will take place from 2nd-8th January in Thessaloniki, Greece.
The tournament will be held in Philippion Hotel in Thessaloniki, as the playing venue of the event. The tournament consist of two groups, group A: for the players with FIDE rating 1700+ and group B for unrated players and players with rating below 1699.
Around 50 players registered for the event so far. Among them are 10GMs and 3IMs, which is already showing that the tournament will be very strong and high leveled.
Registration for the event is done online by sending an e-mail with basic information (Name, FIDE ID, Accommodation details) to the following e-mail address: oustampasidoulena@gmail.com. Registration deadline is 31st of December.
The organizers provided different conditions for the high rated players (more information available in the regulations).
The total prize fund of the event is 8.000 EUR, with 1.700 EUR reserved for the Winner. Besides the regular prizes, top three players will be awarded with trophies and medals.
The tournament will be played in 9 rounds, Swiss system, with time control of 90 minutes for the first 40 moves, plus 30 minutes until the rest of the game, with an increment of 30 seconds per move, starting from the move one.
The event is organized by Pefka CC, Sykies-Neapoli CC, Thessaloniki CCU and Greek Chess Federation.
