The leaders are emerging after 4 rounds of the 17th European Individual Chess Championship 2016 in Gjakova.
Three players managed to gain maximum score: GM Radoslaw Wojtaszek (POL 2722), GM Ernesto Inarkiev (RUS 2686) and GM Baarur Jobava (GEO 2661), with eight players following with 3.5 points.
In the top encounter on the first board Wojtaszek defeated GM GM Alexander Ipatov (TUR 2648) with White pieces. Ipatov chose irregular opening set-up alowing the Polish to take the center and activate this pieces. After lots of manuvering and opening the position White’s pair of Bishops came to the fore, which he used to materialize and eventually triumph.
GM Inarkiev was better than Armenian GM Zaven Andraisian (2602), while Jobava defeated GM Mircea-Emilian Parligras (ROU 2599).
The top seed GM David Navara (CZE 2735) defeated former World and European Senior Champion Georgian Zurab Sturus (2548) and is catching the leaders with only half a point behind.

Inarkiev vs Wojtaszek, Vitiugov vs Jobava, Zhigalko vs Navara, Matlakov vs Ferenc, Kovalev vs Saric, Fressinet vs Dubov, etc.
