Corina-Isabela Peptan and Andrei Istratescu are the winners of the Romanian National Chess Championships, which were held in the Hotel Central, Calimanesti resort/Romania, from 23rd March to 2nd April 2017.
In the Women section, IM Corina-Isabela Peptan (2390) won her 12th title, with 8 points out of 9 games. Second place went to IM Irina Bulmaga (2388) who also scored 8 points, but with worse tie-breaks, and WFM Andreea-Marioara Cosman (2120) came third with 6 points.
In the Open section, GM Andrei Istratescu (2579), recently returned to the Romanian rating list, triumphed with 7.5/9. Silver medal went GM Constantin Lupulescu (2620) with half a point behind, while bronze went to GM Marius Manolache (2496) with 6.5 points.
Both events were played according to the Swiss System in 9 rounds, with time control 90 minutes for 40 moves, followed by 30 minutes for the rest of the game + 30 seconds increment per move, starting from move one.
