European Club Cup 2016 will be held in less than a month, and already we have a big number of participants: 61 teams in Open section and 17 teams in Women section, total 78 clubs!
For the first time and as previously announced, the ECU is presenting new cups specially designed for the European Chess Club Cup 2016 for Men and Women.
The designer of the trophies is Mr. Erekle Purtseladze and he created two versions of the trophies both for the Open and Women section.

The top seed in Open section of the event is the last year’s winner Russian Syberia, with average rating of 2744 points and very strong line-up:

In Women’s section the top seed is Cercle d’Echecs Monte Carlo from Monaco, 5-times European Club Cup Champion featuring the Women’s World Champion GM Hou Yifan (CHN 2649), former Women’s World Champion GM Mariya Muzychuk (UKR 2532), former No. 1 woman in the FIDE World Rankings GM Pia Cramling (SWE 2464), older Muzychuk sister Anna (UKR 2561) and 2001 European Women’s Chess Champion IM Almira Skripchenko (FRA 2456).
The European Club Cup 2016 will take place from 5-13th November in Novi Sad, Serbia. The playing venue will be at the 5-star Hotel Park.
