The European Youth U18 Team Chess Championship 2016 starts in three days in Hotel Celeia, in Celje/Slovenia.
The Championship is organized by the Slovenian Chess Federation, under the auspices of the European Chess Union, and it takes place from 9th to 17th July.
The Championship will be played according to the Swiss system in 7 rounds, with one open section and one section for the girl’s teams, considered as separate competitions. According to ECU and FIDE rules, the time control will be 90 min for 40 moves + 30 min for the rest of the game + 30 seconds increment for every move played starting from the first move.
12 teams in Open and 14 teams in Women’s section registered so far, including 1 GM, 10 IMs and 2 WIMs. The top seeds are Hungary (2469 average rating) in Open section, and Ukraine (2316 average rating) in Girl’s section.
The opening ceremony of the Championship is scheduled for 10th July at 2.30 pm, while the first round starts at 3.00 pm (Slovenian time).
