The 2022 European Senior Team Chess Championships (50+ & 65+ age categories) are ongoing in Dresden, Germany.
After four played rounds, Slovakia and England 50-1 tie for the first place of the 50+ section, scoring perfect 8 match points. Slovakia headed by Lubomir Ftacnik yesterday convincingly defeated Österreich with the 3.5-0.5 score, while England 50-1 claimed a narrow 2.5-1.5 victory over Berlin 1. The leading duo is followed by 5 teams who score 6 match points: Berlin 1, Germany, Berlin 2, Bielefeld and England 50-2.
With a Round 4 narrow victory over England 65-1, Germany 3 scored the fourth consecutive win and maintained the sole lead of the 65+ section with 8 match points. Sweden 1, Cercle d’Echecs de Strasbourg and Finland 65 follow with 7 match points.
The fifth round brings interesting encounters between the leaders of the 50+ section as England 50-1 meets Slovakia, while Germany 3 goes against Cercle d’Echecs de Strasbourg. Round 5 pairings for both sections can be found here.
