European Senior Team Chess Championship 2019 starts tomorrow with Captains’ Meeting in Mali Losinj, Croatia, and takes place from 17th-27th September 2019.
The event is played in two age categories: 65+ (for players born in 1954 or earlier) and 50+ (for players born in 1969 or earlier). 30 teams coming from 15 European federations registered for the event (17 teams in 50+ section and 13 teams in 65+ section).
The event will be played in 9 rounds, Swiss system, with time control 90 min for 40 moves + 30 min for the rest of the game + 30 sec increment for every move played starting from the first move. The total prize fund of the event will be 7.000 EUR.
The Championship takes place in 4 stars Hotel Aurora, the official hotel of the Championship together with the 4 stars Hotel Vespera, located next to the playing venue and Hotel Aurora.
The Opening ceremony of European Team Chess Championship 2019 will take place shortly before the start of the first round, at 14.30 (local time), while the start of the competition is scheduled for 15:00 (local time).
Last year, European Senior Team Chess Championship 2018 took place in Wałbrzych, Poland, with participation of 29 teams, and the Winners became teams of Italy (Open section 50+), Russia (Open section 65+).
