In 50+ Open category the sole leader after six rounds is GM Movsziszian Karen (ARM, 2502) with 5 points. He reserved the sole leading position with draw in the sixth round against one of his first followers who have 4.5 points. In Women’s section 50+ after winning in the sixth round, WGM Strutinskaia Galina (RUS, 2286) hold the first place on the standing list with 5 points out of 6 played games.
In 65+ category after celebrating a victory yesterday, IM Renman Nils Gustav (SWE, 2353) is a also celebrating as a sole leader after 6 rounds played with 5.5 points. Former World Chess Champion, GM Gaprindashvili Nona (GEO, 2313) is currently sole second on the standing list with 5 points. Two of them will meet in today’s 7th round and will have a match which will decide who’s going to take a leadership just two round before the end of the Championship.
The European Senior Chess Championship organized by Spanish Chess Federation and Ione Techno Group, under the auspices of European Chess Union takes place in Sabadell, Spain, from 11th-21st August.
