The 36th European Chess Club Cup and the 25th European Women’s Chess Club Cup concluded yesterday in Struga, North Macedonia. The Awarding ceremony attended FIDE President Mr Arkady Dvorkovich, ECU President Mr Zurab Azmaiparashvili, ECU Vice President and FIDE Managing Director Mrs Dana Riezniece-Ozola , ECU Secretary General Mr Theodoros Tsorbatzoglou, and on behalf of the organisers, President of North Macedonia Chess Federation Mrs Aleksandra Gakidova.
After intense fights in the last round, team of Mednyi Vsadnik from Russia claimed gold and became European Chess Club Cup Winner for 2021! With a narrow 3.5-2.5 victory over Team XtraCon (Denmark), Mednyi Vsadnik scored 13 match points to be the sole Winner of the event, taking the trophy and the 1st prize of 10.000 EUR.

In a direct encounter for medals, Ave Novy Bor (Czech Republic) defeated Silla-Valencia Origin of Chess (Spain) with a result of 3.5-2.5, and scored 12 match points to be the first runner-up.

In a match that decided the bronze medalist, Vugar Gashimov team (Azerbaijan) won against Alkaloid (North Macedonia) and with 11 match points came third.

Final rankings – 36th European Chess Club Cup
Team of South Ural (Russia) dominated the European Women’s Club Cup and triumphed the event with perfect score of 14 match points. The Winner team was awarded with trophy and medals, altogether with a winner prize of 6.000 EUR.
