Katowice to Host the European Individual Chess Championship 2026

The City of Katowice, and the Silesian Chess Federation are proud to announce that the European Individual Chess Championship 2026 will take place in Katowice, Poland, from 7–19 April 2026.

Katowice has already established itself as one of Europe’s leading chess hubs, having successfully organized four editions of the European Rapid and Blitz Chess Championships, each attracting a record number of participants. The city’s proven organizational experience, world-class venues, and welcoming atmosphere provide the ideal conditions for hosting the most prestigious event on the European chess calendar.

Thanks to its central location in Europe, Katowice offers excellent accessibility for both players and fans. Combined with the city’s passion for chess and its strong organizational record, the 2026 European Individual Chess Championship is expected to be one of the largest and strongest in the history of the competition.
