Irish Chess Federation organizes three chess events in January 2020: The Irish 50+/65+ Championships 2020, The Irish New Year Norm Events 2020 and The Gonzaga Charity Classic 2020.
First to be played is Irish Senior Chess Championship 2020, which will take place from 2nd-6th January 2020 in two age sections: 50+ and 65+. The event will be played in 7 rounds, with time control 90 minutes for the whole game, plus 30 seconds of increment per move, starting from the move one.
The event will take place in the Talbot Hotel, Stillorgan, Dublin, with a total prize fund of 1.400 EUR.

Simultaneously with Irish 50+/65+ Chess Championships, the Irish New Year Norm Events 2020 will be played from 2nd-6th January in the same venue. The event comprises Grandmasters event and two International masters event.

Finally, the Gonzaga Charity Classic 2020 sponsored by CPL & MHL will take place from 24th-26th January, in Gonzaga College SJ in Dublin.
Gonzaga Charity Classic 2020 comprises three categories: Masters, Championship and Challenger, with a total prize fund of 3.500 EUR.
The event will be played in 5 rounds, with time control 90 minutes for the whole game + 30 seconds of increment for each move, starting from the move one.
Six Grandmasters currently headline the event: Constantin Lupulescu (ROU, 2657), Sergei Tiviakov (NED, 2613), Ante Saric (CRO, 2540), Bogdan Lalic (CRO, 2538), Oleg Korneev (ESP, 2530) and Matthew Turner (SCO, 2519).
