Grand Chess Tour Romania 2023 opens in Bucharest

The first leg of the 2023 Grand Chess Tour series opens tomorrow and will be held from 5-16 May in Bucharest, Romania.

The event is played as a 10-player round-robin tournament, with world top players in the field including the World Chess Champion Ding Liren and the Challenger Ian Nepomniachtchi. The total prize fund is $350.000 and the participants are: GM Ian Nepomniachtchi, GM Ding Liren, GM Richard Rapport, GM Alireza Firouzja, GM Fabiano Caruana, GM Anish Giri, GM Wesley So, GM Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, GM Jan-Krzysztof Duda, and GM Bogdan Daniel-Deac.

The Grand Chess Tour Romania 2023 will be the first of the two classical tournaments of the tour. The tour schedule:
