The European Youth Team Chess Championship 2025 is set to take place from 4th-12th July in Terme Catez, Slovenia.
The event will be played in two age categories: U12 and U18, open and girls sections separately. Teams in Open competition consist of four + one reserve player, while teams in Girls sections consist of two + one reserve player. Each Championship is played in 7 rounds, swiss system, with the time control of 90 min. + 30 sec. increment for every move played starting from move 1.
The event features a record-breaking participation of 63 teams coming from 18 European federations, with the participation of 220 players. The top-seeded teams in U12 section are Germany (average rating of players 2088), Hungary (average rating of players 2028), and Poland (average rating of players 2016). Rating favourites in the Girls U12 category are Poland (average rating of players 1966), Hungary (average rating of players 1772), Romania (average rating of players 1760). Girls U18 championship is headlined by Ukraine (average rating of players 2167), Israel (average rating of players 2165) and Bosnia and Herzegovina (average rating of players 2160). Austria (average rating of players 2392) headlines the Open U18 category, followed by Hungary (average rating of players 2389) and Poland (average rating of players 2387).
