European Senior Team Chess Championship 2018, which opens tomorrow, will take place from 13th-23rd April 2018, in Wałbrzych, Poland.
The event consists of two separated Championships for categories 50+ and 65+. Entitled to participate in the category 50+ are players who were born in the year 1968 or earlier, while entitled to participate in the category 65+ are players who were born in the year 1953 or earlier.
There are 29 teams registered for the both categories, 12 for the category of Seniors 50+ and 17 teams for the section 65+. Top seeded three teams in the 50+ section are: Italy (with average rating of players 2448), Russia Women team (with average rating of players 2228) and team of Finland- Culture Chess Finland (whose players have the average rating 2175).
The battlefield in the section 65+ is led by: Russia (with average rating of players 2412), Germany (average rating of players 2271) and Finland 1 (average rating of players 2250).

The 1st round will take place on 14th of April, in Hotel “Aqua Zdroj” as the official venue of the Championship.
The Championship will be played in 9 rounds, Swiss system, with time control 90 min for 40 moves + 30 min for the rest of the game + 30 sec increment for every move played starting from the move one, with the total prize fund of 8.000 EUR.
The event is organized by Adolf Anderssen Foundation (Fundacja im. Adolfa Anderssena) under the auspices of the European Chess Union.
