The city of Katowice, the Polish Chess Federation and the European Chess Union have the pleasure to invite you to participate in the European Blitz and Rapid Chess Championship 2017 which will be held in Katowice, Poland from 15th-17th December.
The first on schedule is European Blitz Chess Championship 2017, which will be held on 15th December in “Spodek” Sport and Entertainment Centre. The Blitz competition will be played according to the Swiss system, in 11 paired rounds, with the time control 3 minutes game + 2 seconds per move starting from the first move.
The total prize fund of the Blitz Championship is 11.000 EUR (8.000 EUR for main prizes and 3.000 for special prizes).
The entry fee for the Blitz Competition is 25 EUR for rated players and 30 EUR for unrated players. It will be possible to register after the expiration of deadline date, so players who register after 26th November will be allowed to participate only in case free places are available and their entry fees will be doubled.

The event will continue with European Rapid Chess Championship 2017 which will take place on 16th and 17th December in “Spodek” Sport and Entertainment Centre. The Rapid competition will be played according to the Swiss system, in 11 rounds, with the time control 15 minutes game + 10 seconds per move starting from the first move.
The total prize fund of the Rapid Championship is 21.000 EUR (16.900 EUR for main prizes and 4.100 EUR for special prizes).
The entry fee for the Rapid Competition is 35 EUR for rated players and 40 EUR for unrated players. It will be possible to register after the expiration of deadline date, so players who register after 26th November will be allowed to participate only in case free places are available and their entry fees will be doubled.

Both Championships are open to all the players who are representing Chess Federations which are ECU members regardless of their title and rating.
Registration for both events starts after 2nd October 2017. Applications must be sent through the on-line form on the Official website of the championship. The registration deadline is 26th November 2017.
The event will be organized by Silesian Chess Federation, the Polish Chess Federation and City of Katowice under the auspices of the European Chess Union.
