In the last 3 months, after Tromso ECU GA and elections, the European Chess Union administration managed to find organizers for 6 European Championships, without a schedule for the years 2015 and 2016. The efforts continue with the target to finalize the entire ECU calendar for the next 2 years.
Regarding the “European Individual Women Championship 2015”, during the Board meeting in Batumi, the ECU received a letter of interest from the Israel Federation to host the event in Jerusalem, at the same time as the European Individual Championship (23.02 – 09.03.2015).
Israel Chess Federation asked for one month period to confirm and finalize this offer.
After formal discussions and negotiations it was decided that the ECU President, Mr. Zurab Azmaiparashvili will have an inspection trip to Jerusalem, on 11th-12th December, 2014.
This will be the final date for the ECU to announce if the tournament will be held in Jerusalem. If, for any reason, this is not feasible, the tournament will be postponed for another available date in 2015. We note that all qualifiers for the Women World Championship 2015 are qualified from the competitions in 2013 and 2014.
