Romanian Chess Federation and European Chess Union have the honor to invite all National Chess Federations members of the European Chess Union and eligible players to the European Individual Chess Championship 2025 which will be organized in Romania, Eforie-Nord, from 14th March (arrival) to 27th March (departure).
European Individual Chess Championship 2025 is open for all players from National Chess Federations members of the European Chess Union (ECU) without rating or title limitations and according to the decisions of ECU Board and General Assembly. There is no limit of number of
participants per federation, but applications can only be sent by National Chess Federations or approved by the National Chess Federations.
The event will be played in 11 rounds, swiss system, with the time control of 90 minutes for 40 moves, plus 30 minutes until the end of the game, with 30-second increment for each move starting from the move one.
The total prize fund of the event is 100.000 EUR, with 20.000 EUR reserved for the Winner. The European Individual Chess Championship 2025 is a qualifying event for the FIDE World Cup. According to the FIDE regulations for World Cup and the ECU Board decision, 20 players* will qualify. (*Under the current FIDE World Cup regulations, FIDE is the only body responsible for the qualification spots)
The Championship will be played in Ana Hotels Europa which is also the official hotel of the tournament.
