ECU Girls’ and Women’s Chess Weekend

European Girls’ and Women’s Chess Weekend will be held Online from 14th-16th May with a wide range of events: tournaments, coaching sessions, simultaneous exhibitions and debates.

Hundreds of female participants will take part in tournaments and the team battle event, workshops, simultaneous exhibitions and coaching sessions.

The weekend is open to all female chess players regardless of their chess level, title or rating. The aim of the event is to provide to female players to learn from some of Europe’s most successful women, answering questions what is like to be a top class arbiter, how and when to eat to perform best at chess or what top tips titled players have about time management to combine chess, career and family.

Tournaments will take place through lichess platform, being played from 14-16 May within beginners, U1300, U1800 and Open sections:

Team battle event will be organised within national chess federations and already 13 teams have registered for this event which can be followed here.

Coaching sessions are open to everyone and do not require sign up. All the interested participants will be able to join over twitch or zoom links which can be found below. Sessions are organized within a few groups: beginners (for participants rated U1300), intermediate (for participants rated U1800) and advanced section (for participants rated above 1800).

By the end of the mentioned coaching sessions, invitational small group coaching sessions will take place on 16.05. at 16:00 CEST with FM Akshaya Kalaiyalahan, WGM Petra Papp, IM Elisabeth Pähtz… Places for these small group coaching sessions are distributed through federations and can be won at prizes during the individual tournaments!
