5 rounds played at European School Chess Championship 2022

The halfway of the European School Chess Championship 2022 most of the groups got the emerged leaders.

The Chairperson of Irish Chess Union Mr. Desmond Beatty made the first ceremonial move at the 5th round of European School Chess Championship 2022 accompanied by ECU Secretary General Mr. Theodoros Tsorbatzoglou.

There are four rounds left to be played before announcing the U7, U9, U11, U13, U15 and U17 boys and girls European School Chess Champions.

Bicer Atakan Mert (TUR, 2356) is the sole leader of U17 section with 4.5 points, half a point ahead of Can Isik (TUR, 2406) who scores 4 points and holds the second position.

The U15 section features 7 rounds, as there’re 12 participants in the group. After 4 played rounds, Andreev Konstantin (FIDE, 2176) leads with 3.5 points and he is followed by Portakalci Yusuf (TUR, 1805) with 3 points. Three players are in a tie for third place scoring 2.5 points each.

Two players share the top of U13 category: Morkunas Gustas (LTU, 1938) and Sozat Arda (TUR, 1591) with 4 points, each. They are ahead of five players who tie for the third place scoring 3.5 points, each.

Erdogmus Yagiz Kaan (TUR, 2358) leads the U11 section with the maximum score of 5 points. Murawski Jan (ENG, 1439) is second with 4 points, and two players are in a tie for the third place with 3.5 points, each.

Anakok Deniz (TUR, 1396) is the sole leader of the U9 category, scoring 4.5 points. Sason Noam and Sofronie Vladimir (ROU, 1743) tie for the second place with score of 4 points, each.

The section for the youngest – U7 is led by Jakhria Kushal (ENG, 1392) who scores 4.5 points. Three players are behind tying for the second place with score of 4 points, each.

Can Isil (TUR, 1901) leads the girls section U17 scoring 4 points. Keskin Elif (TUR, 1692) and Chuchukova Stefani (ECU, 1711) tie for the second place with 3.5 points each.

With 14 participants in girls U15 section, 7 rounds will be played to determine the Winner. After 4 played rounds, Akat Elifnaz (TUR, 1769) is the sole leader with 3.5 points. Janouskova Adela (CZE, 1498) and Mustu Hatice Asli (TUR, 1704) tie for the current second place with 3 points, each.

Kirtadze Anastasia (GEO, 1783) scores perfect 5 points to be in the lead of Girls U13 section. She is a full point ahead of Susin Derya Defne (TUR, 1297) and Keskinler Ela (TUR, 1434) who are in a tie for second position with 4 points each.

Aydogan Arya (TUR, 1409) and Kalyoncu Beren (TUR, 1165) share the top of Girls U11 category scoring 4.5 points, each. Kutateladze Anastasia (GEO, 1180) and Anemogianni Savvina (GRE, 1102) lag behind with 3.5 points, each.

Veselow Zoe (ENG, 1314) leads the category Girls U9 with score of 4.5 points. Cretescu Emma (ROU, 1171) and Izan Idil (TUR) share the second place with 4 points, each.

With 8 participants in the Girls U7 sections, the event is played as 7 round-robin tournament. Sivanandan Bodhana (ENG, 1186) and Aragonda Sahasra (SUI) score 4 points, each, and tie for the first place. Ahmadli Mehriban (AZE) is third with 3 points.

200 players coming from 22 European federations compete in the European School Chess Championship 2022 played within 6 age categories: U7, U9, U11, U13, U15 and U17, open and girls sections separately. The European School Chess Championship 2022 takes place from 20 April (arrival day) to 30 April (departure day) in 5 stars “Rodos Palace” conference resort, located in Rhodes island, Greece.
