Three rounds played at the European Chess Club Cup 2024

Three rounds were played at the European Chess Club Cup 2024 and eight teams remained perfect in the Open section, while only two teams score maximum 6 match points in the Women’s competition.

Teams in the co-lead after three rounds are SuperChess, Turkish Airlines, TAJFUN SK Ljubljana, Alkaloid, Bayegan Pendik Chess Sports Club, Novy Bor Chess Club, Tuxera Aquaprofit Nagykanizsai Sakk Klub, and Sentimento Ajka BSK.

The top seeded SuperChess took a convincing 5-1 victory against Azerbaijani team Vugar Gashimov with only two drawn games in the match: GM Gukesh D (2794, SuperChess) drew against GM Rauf Mamedov (2643, Vugar Gashimov), and GM Bogdan Daniel-Deac (2691, SuperChess) played a draw against GM Ahmad Ahmadzada (2523, Vugar Gashimov).

GM Arjun Erigaisi (2797, Alkaloid) was victorious against GM Victor Mikhalevski (2480, Beer Sheva Chess Club) and scores perfect 3/3 points in the event. With the current result, Erigaisi has 2799.6 live rating and he is just a step closer of becoming the second Indian ever (after Viswanathan Anand) to cross 2800 rating. Thanks to Erigaisi’s win in the third round, team Alkaloid scored a narrow 3.5-2.5 victory over Beer Sheva Chess Club.

Novy Bor Chess Club defeated Vados Chess Club with the same 3.5-2.5 score, thanks to GM Vincent Keymer’s (2721, Novy Bor Chess Club) victory over GM Chopra Aryan (2620, Vados Chess Club), while the other games finished in a draw. Another narrow score happened in the match between Sentimento Ajka BSK and Elektroprivreda, as five games finished with draws, and GM Bence Korpa (2550, Sentimento Ajka BSK) prevailed against FM Bozidar Kisic (2192, Elektroprivreda).

TAJFUN SK Ljubljana and Garuda Ajka BSK tie for the top in the Women’s section as the only teams with perfect score of 6 match points.

TAJFUN SK Ljubljana defeated Crvena Zvezda Data Driven Lab, despite GM Nana Dzagnidze’s (2513, TAJFUN SK Ljubljana) loss against IM Alina Bivol (2345, Crvena Zvezda Data Driven Lab). GM Jiner Zhu and IM Olga Badelka scored wins for the Slovenian team, while WIM Urh Zala drew against WIM Jovana Srdanovic.

Garuda Ajka BSK scored a convincing 3-1 victory over SuperChess. IM Injac Teodora (2424, Garuda Ajka BSK) defeated IM Marsel Efroimski (2399, SuperChess), while WIM Zsoka Gaal (2398, Garuda Ajka BSK) won her game agaisnt IM Ulviyya Fataliyeva (2383, SuperChess). Games on the first two boards finished in draws.
