After three played rounds at the European Women’s Chess Championship 2025 only three players remained perfect scoring 3/3 points: 16th seeded IM Narva Mai (EST, 2380), 22nd seeded IM Eline Roebers (NED, 2367), and WFM Anastasia Kirtadze (GEO, 2180) who was the 77th player on the starting list.
IM Narva Mai (EST, 2380) today defeated GM Josefine Heinemann (GER, 2297) with black pieces. Narva used the first opporutnity to break through with 18…d5 and immediately got the clear edge. However, she missed a direct way for a win in the middlegame, and allowed Heinemann to stabilize. It was a tough endgame for the German representative, and Mai Narva managed to score a win to emerge as one of the leaders in the tournament.

IM Eline Roebers (NED, 2367) scored a win against WGM Lan Yao (ENG, 2294). Playing black, Eline Roebers went for a very dynamical line of French defense, with sacrifices and fires all over the board. Lan Yao made a mistake with 24.Qe5? and Roebers used her chance to take the advantage and never let it go. She played a perfect game and took third consecutive win in the event to tie for the first place after three played rounds.

16-year-old WFM Anastasia Kirtadze (GEO, 2180) made three upsets in a row, defeating higher rated opponents. Today it was her compatriot IM Lela Javakhishvili (GEO, 2429) who suffered a loss. It seemed that Kirtadze wasn’t theoretically ready for the opening, and made a mistake which could’ve given Javakhishvili a clear advantage. However, Lela Javakhishvili missed that and entered a worse middlegame which shortly after converted into a lost endgame. Anastasia Kirtadze kept the control in the game despite the time trouble, and scored her third win in the tournament to be one of the leaders, with a plus of 93.6 ELO points!
