The ECU Board Meeting took place today, Friday, 22nd of July 2022 in Thessaloniki, Greece. The board discussed the final preparations for the ECU General Assembly 2022 which will be held tomorrow at 09.30 in the same venue.
ECU Board discussed the bids received by the deadline of the 29th of April 2022. The ECU received three solo bids for the following competitions and awarded the organisation to respective federations:
- European Amateur Chess Championship 2024 is awarded to Zagreb, Croatia.
- European Youth Team Chess Championship 2024 is awarded to Thessaloniki, Greece.
- European Women’s Chess Championship 2024 and European Youth Chess Championships 2026 (combined bid) are awarded to Rhodes, Greece.
- European Individual Chess Championship 2023 and European Chess Club Cup and Women’s Club Cup 2024 are awarded to Vrnjacka Banja, Serbia. The ECU Board decided to accept the proposal of the Serbian Chess Federation to host the events. The dates for European Individual Chess Championship 2023 are 2nd-14th March 2023.
