Team Europe ties for the 2nd place after 4 played rounds at FIDE Nations Cup

Four rounds have been played at FIDE Chess.com Online Nations Cup and Team Europe headed by Chess Legend Garry Kasparov ties for the 2nd place scoring 5 match points.

China currently holds the 1st place with 3 victories and a draw against Russia from the 3rd round, while Team Europe and USA have the same score of 5 match points (one loss and one draw) and 8.5 points.

Starting in the round 1 of the FIDE Chess.com Online Nations Cup, Team Europe kicked off with following composition: 1.Vachier-Lagrave Maxime, 2.Aronian Levon, 3.Jan Duda Krzysztof and 4.Muzychuk Anna. The opponent was Russia and the match ended in a draw after great fight.

The second round was tough for Team Europe, since they suffered a loss against China with result 1-3. Vachier-Lagrave Maxime drew on the first board with Ding Liren, Aronian Levon drew against Wei Yi, Anish Giri lost in the game with Yu Yangyi, and Dzagnidze Nana lost against reigning Women’s World Chess Champion Ju Wenjun.

Day two was much better for Team Europe and its Captain, Garry Kasparov, since they achieved two victories to come back on the top of the list.

In round 3, Europe faced India and took a narrow victory with result 2.5-1.5 thanks to Levon Aronian who won on the 2nd board against Vidit Santosh Gujrathi, while the other games ended in a peaceful manner.

In the second round of the day two, 4th round of the event, Europe convincingly won the match against USA. Aronian Levon and Dzagnidze Nana scored a full point with black pieces against Dominguez Perez Leinier and Zatonskih Anna, while Vachier Lagrave Maxime and Giri Anish played draws against Nakamura Hikaru and So Wesley.
