SuperChess and Cercle d’Echecs de Monte-Carlo leading European Chess Club Cups

Heading into the last round of the European Chess Club Cup 2025, SuperChess emerged as the sole leader of the Open tournament, while Cercle d’Echecs de Monte-Carlo kept the leading position in Women’s section and remained on perfect score!

The direct match between the leaders of the Open section marked the 6th round, with SuperChess from Romania against Alkaloid from North Macedonia. The match proved tightly contested, with five boards ending in draws. The decisive result came on the top board, where reigning World Chess Champion GM Gukesh Dommaraju secured a crucial victory against GM Arjun Erigaisi. Gukesh’s win clinched the match for SuperChess, allowing the team to preserve its unbeaten run and stay in sole first place.

With only one round to go, SuperChess scores maximum 12 match points, Tuxera Aquaprofit Nagykanizsai Sakk Klub is second with 9 match points, and five teams tie for third place scoring 10 match points each: Alkaloid, Kfar Saba, Novy Bor, Vugar Gashimov, and Rishon Le Zion #1, setting up a tense final-round race for podium positions..

In the Women’s section, Cercle d’Echecs de Monte-Carlo continued its flawless performance, defeating SuperChess 2.5–1.5 to retain the top spot. IM Alina Kashlinskaya (Cercle d’Echecs de Monte-Carlo) brought the match win as she defeated IM Marsel Efroimski (SuperChess), while the other three games came to draws.

Cercle d’Echecs de Monte-Carlo scores 12 match points, while the second-ranked Sirmium Sremska Mitrovica has 10 match points. CE Gambit Bonnevoie and Tajfun SK Ljubljana tie for the third place, with the score of 8 match points each.
