IM Teodora Injac clinches European Women’s Chess Championship 2025 with a round to spare

IM Teodora Injac yesterday scored her 9th consecutive win in the European Women’s Chess Championship 2025 to clinch the tournament with a round to spare!

Playing with blacks against IM Irina Bulmaga (ROU, 2362), IM Teodora Injac (SRB, 2454) equalized but the position was very sharp and dynamical with heterogeneous castles and attacks on both sides of the board. Injac played it well, gained the activity and the edge, gradually improving it for a winning position and decisive material advantage. She scored a spectacular 9th win in a row, after suffering a loss in the first round against WFM Anastasia Kirtadze (GEO, 2180) where she had a winning position but missed mate in two. With the score of 9/10 points, Teodora Injac secured gold and won her maiden European Women’s Chess Champion title.

IM Irina Bulmaga (ROU, 2362), IM Mai Narva (EST, 2380) and IM Aleksandra Maltsevskaya (POL, 2376) follow, tying for the second place with the score of 7.5 points.

The final round starts today at 12:00 CET (13:00 local time) and live games with commentaries by GM Alojzije Jankovic and Dragana Nikolovska can be followed through the ECU TV platform or the ECU YouTube channel.
