Defeating GM Ivan Cheparinov (BUL, 2632) with black pieces yesterday, Indjic again expanded his lead in the event, to be a full point ahead over the runner ups. Aleksandar Indjic opted for very sharp and dynamical position yesterday and converted it into a winning endgame with an exchange up. Passing the time control, Cheparinov resigned.

To stay close to the top, GM Maksim Chigaev (ESP, 2605) yesterday drew against GM Jorden Van Foreest (GM, 2687) with white pieces, GM Bogdan-Daniel Deac (ROU, 2687) defeated GM Manuel Petrosyan (ARM, 2612), GM Frederik Svane (GER, 2654) scored against GM Yagiz Kaan Erdogmus (TUR, 2604), GM Daniel Dardha (BEL, 2606) prevailed against GM Latasa Santos Jaime (ESP, 2630), GM Robert Hovhannisyan (ARM, 2613) was victorious against IM Umut Ata Akbas (TUR, 2466), and GM Daniil Yuffa (ESP, 2631) beat GM Marc’Andria Maurizzi (FRA, 2585).
Scoring 5.5/9 points, IM Teodora Injac (SRB, 2429) is the best-ranked woman player in the event. She drew against GM Leon Livaic (CRO, 2557) yesterday, and joined ECU TV studio for the interview with WIM Lena Miladinovic.
