FIDE World Senior Team Chess Championship 2020 starts today

FIDE World Senior Team Chess Championship 2020 starts today in Prague, Czech Republic.

The 1st round of the event starts today at 15:00 local time. The Championship is played in two age categories: 50+ and 65+, and 106 teams participate the event.

Top seeds of the 50+ section are: USA1, LASKER SCHACHSTIFTUNG GK (Germany), Czech Republic 1, England 1 and Italia, while the line-up of the 65+ category is led by: Russia, Germany 1, Czech Republic 1, France and England 1.

The event gathered many world known Grandmasters, such as:
Graf Alexander (GER, 2575), Hracek Zbynek (CZE, 2572), Jussupow Artur (GER, 2560), Nunn John D M (ENG, 2568), Andersson Ulf (SWE, 2516) and many others.

Starting rank list

The Championship will be played by a 9-rounds Swiss system, with time control of 90 minutes for 40 moves, plus 30 minutes for the rest of the game, with an increment of 30 seconds starting from the move one.

Total prize fund of the event will be 10.000 EUR.
