FIDE Women’s Candidates Tournament 2022/2023 opens tomorrow in Monaco with the Pool A knock-out part of the event. FIDE this year adopted the new knock-out system for the FIDE Women’s Candidates Tournament 2022/2023 which features 8 players and two knock-out pools: A and B. The Winners of each pool will qualify for the Finals which will be played in 2023 as the 6-game match.
The four participants of the Pool A are: GM Humpy Koneru (IND, 2574), GM Lei Tingjie (CHN, 2535), GM Anna Muzychuk (UKR, 2534) and GM Mariya Muzychuk (UKR, 2527). Each match in the pool will consist of 4 games, and possible tiebreaks if the result is 2-2 after four played games.
Pool A – Round 1 matches:
Humpy Koneru – Anna Muzychuk
Lei Tingjie – Mariya Muzychuk
The opening ceremony of the event will take place tomorrow evening, starting at 18:00 CEST, with the games starting on Tuesday, 25th of October, at 15:00 CEST. The playing venue of the event will be a glamorous Hôtel Hermitage Monte-Carlo.
