The second round of the European Chess Club Cup 2025 was played yesterday in Rhodes, Greece, and games are getting tougher every day.
The top seeded clubs continued strong yesterday, most of them scoring convincing victories against the underdogs. Bayegan Pendik chess sports club scored 5-1 win against SK Dunajska streda, Alkaloid scored maximum 6-0 win over Ippotis Rhodes chess club, defending Champions Novy Bor was victorious against De Sprenger Echternach with the score of 5-1, SuperChess defeated FC St. Pauli with 5-1, and Tuxera Aquaprofit Nagykanizsai Sakk Klub won against HSK Lister Turm with 5-1.

In the Women’s section, Cercle d’Echecs de Monte-Carlo defeated CE Gambit Bonnevoie with 3-1, Turkish Airlines sports club scored 4-0 against C’Chartres echecs, defending Champions Tajfun SK Ljubljana won 3-1 against Crvena Zvezda, SuperChess defeated MSK Centar ASEE with 3-1, and Sirmium Sremska Mitrovica scored maximum 4-0 victory against Wasa SK.

The matches are getting tougher every day, and the teams opt to play in their strongest compositions. Reigning World Chess Champion Gukesh D and FIDE Grand Swiss Champion Anish Giri join their clubs today in the venue, debuting in the European Chess Club Cup 2025. Arjun Erigaisi, Shakhriyar Mamedyarov, Vincent Keymer, Jorden Van Foreest, Parham Maghsoodlo, are in the line-up today as well.
The European Women’s Club Cup already features the encounters between the best-rated teams. Cercle d’Echecs de Monte-Carlo plays against defending Champions Tajfun SK Ljubljana, SuperChess encounters Turkish Airlines sports club. GM Aleksandra Goryachkina, GM Zhu Jiner, GM Divya Deshmukh, GM Anna Muzychuk, GM Mariya Muzychuk and other World’s and Europe’s top players are competing today.
