European Youth Chess Championship 2025 starts in Montenegro

The 2025 European Youth Chess Championship is set to take place in Budva, Montenegro, from 28th of October to 8th of November.

The event will be played in six age categories: U8, U10, U12, U14, U16 and U18, open and girls sections separately. Each tournament will be played in 9 rounds, swiss system, with time control of 90 minutes for the game with an increment of 30 seconds per move, starting from move one.

The European Youth Chess Championship gathers young chess talents, National Youth Chess Champions of 48 European countries, with nearly 1200 children taking part in the tournament. The higher age categories are headlined by 15 International masters, 89 FIDE masters, 2 Woman International Masters, and a total of 224 titled players!

The Winners of each section will receive the title of the European Youth Chess Champions 2025 for the respective age category. The best-ranked three players in each group will be awarded medals; the first five players in each group will be awarded cups, diplomas and valuable prizes; and each participant will receive presents.

The Championships will be played at “Jadranski sajam” Budva which is located 100m from the official tournament hotels: ****Slovenska Plaza and ****Aleksandar – Slovenska Plaza.

The Opening ceremony of the event is scheduled for 28th of October, with start at 17:00 CEST.
