The European Youth Chess Championship 2023 kicks off on Tuesday, 5th of September, in Mamaia, Romania. The event will be played in 6 age categories: U8, U10, U12, U14, U16 and U18 (open and girls sections separately), from 5-14 September, at the Ceremony Hall Dorna.
Each category will feature 9 rounds played in the swiss system, with the time control of 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment for each move, starting from the move one.
More than 900 players coming from 46 European federations will participate in the event, including more than 100 titled players.

The technical meeting for the federation delegates will be held on Tuesday morning, and the Opening ceremony of the event will take place shortly before the start of the first round, on Tuesday, September 5th.

The first three players in each group will be awarded medals and cups; the first six players in each group will be awarded diplomas. The Winners of the each category will become the European Youth Chess Champions 2023 of the respective age category.
Concurrently with the European Youth Chess Championship 2023, Mamaia will host the European Chess Union Board Meeting which will take place on 7-8 September.
