The 2025 European Women’s Chess Championship concluded yesterday in Rhodes, Greece.
IM Teodora Injac (SRB, 2454) emerged as the sole Winner of the event, clinching the title with a round to spare. Teodora Injac suffered a loss in the first round of the Championship, but then scored spectacular 9 consecutive victories for a historical result. Drawing in the last round against IM Aleksandra Maltsevskaya (POL, 2376), Injac finished the tournament with the score of 9.5/11 points, 1.5 points ahead of the runner-ups.

Scoring 8/11 points each, IM Irina Bulmaga (ROU, 2362), IM Mai Narva (EST, 2380) and IM Aleksandra Maltsevskaya (POL, 2376) tied for silver medal, but the tiebreak criteria determined the medalists. Irina Bulmaga had the best tiebreaks to claim silver, Mai Narva won bronze, and Aleksandra Maltsevskaya finished the event in the fourth place.

11 players qualified for the next FIDE Women’s World Chess Cup which will take place from 5-29 July in Batumi, Georgia.
ECU Commission for Women’s Chess presented the WOM ECU Performance Excellence Awards. IM Eline Robers (NED, 2367) won the Junior U20 Award (Celebrating rising starts) as the highest-ranked player U20, WFM Anastasia Kirtadze (GEO, 2180) won the Junior U16 Award and the Performance Award for a player rated U2200. Nenova Andzhelika won the Performance Award for a player rated U2000. The Awards were presented by the Chairperson of the ECU Commission for Women’s Chess Antoaneta Stefanova.


The Closing ceremony of the event took place yesterday evening in the playing venue with the attendance of the ECU President Mr. Zurab Azmaiparashvili, ECU Secretary General Mr. Theodoros Tsorbatzoglou, ECU Vice President Mr. Alojzije Jankovic, ECU Treasurer Mr. Ion-Serban Dobronauteanu, Chairperson of the ECU Commission for Women’s Chess Ms. Antoaneta Stefanova, and other distinguished guests.
