The 16th European Union Youth Chess Championship, which will be played in 4 age categories: U8, U10, U12 and U14, has started yesterday and takes place from 6th-15th August 2018 in Kouty nad Desnou, Czech Republic.
The event participate more than 100 players who are competing for a crown of European Union Chess Champion. The Championship has started yesterday when after the short opening ceremony, the participants have started their games of the 1st round.
After only one round played 11 players reached the score of one point in section U8, while in section U10 only one game finished in a draw manner, while all the others have finished in decisive result. In section U12 all the games finished by a victory of one of the players, and 14 players lead with 1 point. The exact same situation happened in the first round of section U14 where 13 players tie for the top with 1 point.
Pairings, Standings and Results
European Union Youth Chess Championship 2018 which takes place in 3* Hotel Dlouhe Strane in Kouty nad Desnou will be played in 9 rounds, Swiss system, with time control 90 min for the whole game + 30 second of increment for each move played.
The first three players of each category will be rewarded with trophies, medals and diplomas, together with valuable prizes, while every player of each category will receive commemorative championship medal and a diploma. Girls of each category will be rewarded separately from boys.
