The European Senior Chess Championship 2022 kicks off tomorrow in Lublin, Poland, taking place from 5-14 July in Arche Hotel Lublin.
The event is played in two age categories: 50+ and 65+, with separate prizes for female players. 61 players from 15 European countries registered for the events which will be played over 9 swiss rounds, with time control: 90 minutes for 40 moves plus 30 minutes for the rest of the game with an increment of 30 seconds per move, starting from move one.
The top seeds of the European Senior Chess Championship 50+ are: GM Martin Mrva (SVK, 2385), FM Andreas Druckenthaner (AUT, 2272) and Vladislav Bliumberg (UKR, 2223), and the 65+ section battlefield is led by IM Henryk Dobosz (POL, 2354), IM Valentin Bogdanov (UKR, 2333), and IM Nils-Gustaf Renman (SWE, 2311).

According to FIDE Handbook D.04.03.7, the top 3 players from each category of the European Senior Championship 2022 are qualified with personal rights (free board and lodging) to the World Senior Championship 2023.
