The European Junior U20 Chess Championship 2026 is set to take place from 5-16 August at Hotel Grand, in Cetinje, Montenegro.
The event will be played in two categories: Open U20 and Girls U20, with 9 swiss rounds in each competition, and the time control of 90 minutes for the first 40 moves, followed by 30 minutes for the rest of the game, with a 30-second increment per move, starting from the move one.
The event gathers 116 players from 38 European federations and very strong fields in both categories. The top seeds in the Open U20 section are: GM Yahli Sokolovsky (ISR, 2541), GM Emin Ohanyan (ARM, 2517), IM Diego Macias Pino (ESP, 2510), IM Artiom Stribuk (FIDE, 2494) and IM Semen Mitusov (NOR, 2464).
IM Eline Roebers (NED, 2371) headlines the field in the Girls U20 section, followed by WIM Mariia Manko (SUI, 2302), WIM Bozhena Piddubna (UKR, 2266), FM Marija Kuznecova (LAT, 2248) and Tetyana Skarbarchuk (UKR, 2240).
