European Individual Chess Championship 2022 – Official regulations

The European Individual Chess Championship 2022 will take place from 27th March (1st round) – 6th April (11th round) 2022, in Terme Catez, Slovenia.

The event will be played in 11 rounds, Swiss system, with time control: 90 minutes for 40 moves plus 30 minutes for the rest of the game with an increment of 30 seconds per move, starting from move one.

The total prize fund of the event will be 100.000 EUR, with 20.000 EUR reserved for the Winner of the event. Along with the regular prizes for the best ranked 23 players, the special prizes for best female players, best junior players, best senior players and best ACP players will be distributed.

The European Individual Chess Championship 2022 is a qualifying event for the FIDE World Cup 2023.  According to FIDE regulations for World Cup and the ECU Board decision, 20 players will qualify*.

The European Individual Chess Championship is open to all players representing the Chess Federations which are members of the European Chess Union regardless of their title or rating. There is no limit to participants per federation. However, applications can only be sent by national federations.

The registration deadline is February 20th, 2022.

The organizers welcome all participants and accompanying persons to stay in the Official Hotels of the event: Hotel Terme****, Hotel Toplice**** and Hotel Catez***.

The organizer will provide transport services for the participants lodge at the official hotels from Zagreb (CRO) International Airport to the official hotels – on March 26th as well as the departure transfer – on April 7th free of charge. All travel information must be sent by e-mail to euroindividualchess22@gmail.com not later than March 1st, 2022.

The event is organized by the Slovenian Chess Federation, under the auspices of the European Chess Union.
