European Chess Club Cup 2024 starts in Vrnjacka Banja, Serbia

The 39th European Chess Club Cup and the 28th European Women’s Club Cup will take place from 19-27 October in Vrnjacka Banja, Serbia.

The events will be played in 7 rounds, swiss system, with the time control of 90 minutes for 40 moves + 30 minutes until the end of the game with an increment of 30 seconds per move, starting from move one.

The teams in the Open section will be composed of 6 players + 2 reserve players, and the Women’s section teams will feature 4 players + 1 reserve player.

102 teams registered for the events, 84 teams will compete in the Open tournament, and 18 teams in the Women’s championship. The top seeded teams in the Open section are: Superchess (Average rating of players 2730), Alkaloid (Average rating of players 2706), Novy Bor Chess Club (Average
rating of players 2691), Bayegan Pendik Chess Sports Club (Average rating of players 2683), and Turkish Airlines (Average rating of players 2682).

The rating favourites in the Women’s section are: Cercle d’Echecs de Monte-Carlo (Average rating of players 2489), Garuda Ajka BSK (Average rating of players 2459), TAJFUN SK Ljubljana (Average rating of players 2437), Superchess (Average rating of players 2426) and Sirmium Sremska Mitrovica (Average rating of players 2418).

The event gathers world-known players, including 15 players rated 2700+ in the Open section:
