ECU CIRCULAR LETTER NO. 2/2016

Dear Chess Friends,

The annual ECU General Assembly 2016 will take place on 10th September 2016 at 9.30 am in the Baku Fairmont hotel, Azerbaijan during the 87th FIDE Congress.  ECU President Zurab Azmaiparashvili invites all European National Chess Federations to attend the meeting. Proposals from Members to be included in the agenda for the General Assembly shall reach ECU Secretariat not later than three months (deadline 9th June, 2016) before the start of the General Assembly.

On April 29th 2016 at 4 PM CET, the deadline for sending bids for the organization of the European Championships elapsed. We received the following bids:

European Team Chess Championship 2019

  1. Georgia – Batumi

Georgian Chess Federation offering additionally with this bid the organization of the European Individual Chess Championship 2018 with a minimum prize fund of 125,000 euros.

European Youth Chess Championship U8 – U18 2018

  1. Latvia – Riga
  2. Slovakia – Poprad – Tatry

European Women Individual Chess Championship 2017

  1. Latvia – Riga
  2. Slovakia – Poprad – Tatry

European Chess Club Cup Open & Women 2018

  1. Czech Republic – Prague
  2. Greece – Rhodes
  3. Montenegro – Budva

European Senior Team Chess Championship 2018

  1. Poland  – Walbrzych

 European Youth Team Championship 2018

  1. Germany – Bad Blankeburg, Thuringia

 European Women’s Rapid Championship & European Women’s Blitz Championship 2018

  1. Georgia  – Tbilisi

  European Youth Rapid and Blitz Championships 2018

  1. Romania – Oradea, Bihor County

We remind that the European School Chess Championship 2018 awarded to Poland – Krakow by the 2015 ECU General Assembly in Bar, Montenegro.

All the bids received which are valid after the bid fee payment are published on the ECU website: https://www.europechess.org/events/bidding-procedure/bids-2017-2018/  

No bids were received for the following Championships:

European Rapid Championship & European Blitz Championship 2018

European Amateur Championship 2018

European Individual Senior Championship 2018

The deadline for bids for the above European Championships is extended till Monday 6th June 2016 by 4 PM CET. All the bids must reach the European Chess Union office until the deadline in one of the following ways:

a) By e-mail ecuoffice2014@gmail.com

b) Personally, in a sealed envelope, in the ECU office in Tbilisi.

c) By postal service or express postal service (DHL, Fedex, TNT…) to the address:

The ECU Educational Commission meeting will take place in Kallithea, Halkidiki, Greece from 21st to 23rd June 2016.

The next ECU Board meeting will take place on 24th and 25th June 2016 in Prague, Czech Republic
