ST. PETERSBURG SUMMER 2019
International chess festival St. Petersburg Summer will take place from 13th-26th August 2019 in Saint Petersburg, Russia, at Azimut Hotel. The festival contains three events: Viktor Korchnoi Memorial (13th-23rd August), Russian Children’s Cup Tournament (13th-23rd August) and Russian Rapid Grand Prix Stage (24th-26th August).
Viktor Korchnoi Memorial, one of the main events of the festival, will be played in 9 rounds, Swiss system, with time control 90 minutes+ 30 seconds of an increment per move starting from the move one. Draw offers are forbidden before the move 41.
Total prize fund of the event will be more than 10.000 EUR, with around 2.000 EUR reserved for the Winner of the tournament.
Already three players rated over 2600 have registered for the event: Kamsky Gata (USA, 2673), Zvjaginsev Vadim (RUS, 2644) and Chigaev Maksim (RUS, 2640).
C tournament- Russian Rapid Grand Prix will be played in 11 rounds, Swiss system, with time control 15 minutes+10 seconds per move. The total prize fund of the tournament will be around 8.000 EUR.
B tournament- Children’s Cup Russia will be played in 4 age categories: U9, U11, U13 and U15, open and girls separately. The tournament will be played in 9 round Swiss system, with time control: 60 minutes + 30 seconds per move for tournaments under 9, for others (under 11, 13, 15 y.o.) 90 minutes + 30 second per move.
