R6 REPORT: EUROPEAN WOMEN CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP 2018

Six rounds have been played at European Women Chess Championship 2018 in Vysoke Tatry, Slovakia, and the leadership is in hands of 5 players who tie  for the top with 5 points each.

After very intense struggles and many turnovers, Gunina Valentina (RUS, 2507), Muzychuk Mariya (UKR, 2540), Ushenina Anna (UKR, 2422), Dzagnidze Nana (GEO, 2507) and Danielian Elina (ARM, 2410) emerged as the leaders of the Championship, each with 5 points.

The leading 5 is followed by 9 players who leg behind for only 0.5 point, all with 4.5 points. Among the players in this group are some of the top seeders who suffered a few upsets in the starting rounds, such as Goryachkina Aleksandra (RUS, 2495) and Stefanova Antoaneta (ECU, 2479).

Pairings of the 7th round

round_05_056The European Individual Women’s Chess Championship  is a qualification event for the next World Women’s Chess Championship. According to the current FIDE regulations and the decision of the ECU Board, 14 players will qualify. The total prize fund of the event is 70.000 EUR.

The Championship is played in 11 rounds, Swiss system, in accordance with the ECU Tournament Rules and FIDE Rules of Chess with time control 90 minutes for 40 moves plus 30 minutes for the rest of the game with an increment of 30 seconds per move, starting from the move one.
