R3 REPORT: EUROPEAN SENIOR TEAM CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP 2018

Three rounds have been already played at the European Senior Team Chess Championship 2018, which takes place from 13th-23rd April in Walbrzych, Poland.

DSC_5402-kopiaThe event is declared opened during the short ceremony which took place before the start of the first round, in the playing venue of the event- Hotel Aqua Zdroj.

The Championship is played in two age categories: 50+ and 65+ with participation of 27 teams coming from 12 European federations.

In section 50+, 12 teams are fighting for the title of European Senior Team Chess Champion. After three played rounds, Russia Women team and top seeded Italy emerged on the top with all the victories and maximum result of 6 match points. Leaders are followed by 3 teams with the same score of 4 match points: Belgium VSF, Germany Women team and England.

DSC_5382-kopiaIn section 65+, with participation of 15 teams, after three rounds of struggles, Russia emerged as the sole leader of the Championship, as the only team who triumphed in all the rounds, and scored a maximum result of 6 match points. Scotland and Denmark Norresundby tie for the second place with 5 match points each.

The clash of the leaders of category 50+ and match between the first and second -placed teams of section 65+, together with all the other matches of both Championships, can be watched LIVE through the official website of the Championship.
