EUROPEAN YOUTH RAPID & BLITZ CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP OPENS IN TALLINN

European Youth Rapid & Blitz Chess Championship 2019 opens tomorrow in Tallinn, Estonia, and will be taking place from 30th November to 4th December.

The event launches with a Competition in Solving problems, tomorrow evening. Next on the schedule is the European Youth Rapid Chess Championship 2019, which will be played on 1st and 2nd December, while Rapid Youth Team Chess Championship will be played on 2nd December.

More than 650 boys and girls coming from 28 European federation will be competing in 6 age categories of Rapid Championship: U8, U10, U12, U14, U16 and U18, Open and Girls sections separately.

Around 620 players will participate in European Youth Blitz Chess Championship 2019, which will take place on 3rd December in the morning. The event will be played in 3 age categories: U10, U14 and U18, Open and Girls separately.

The European Rapid Cup – Rapid Super final will be played after blitz, in the afternoon of 3rd December. The event will be played in two categories, open and girls. The best players in each category of European Youth Rapid Chess Championships 2019 may enter the Rapid Super Final (Three best players in each of the categories – 14, 16 and 18, two best players in each of the categories – 8, 10, 12). These players (altogether 16) – separate Open and Girls, will play matches in 4 rounds (knock-out system) according to special regulations.

The total prize fund for all events is 13 700€ in goods, and 1 300€ in money prizes.

–  The European Youth Rapid Chess Championship winners in each category will be awarded tablet computers.

– Three best players in each category will win cups and medals.

– Five best players will be also awarded prizes in different items in goods.

– The European Youth Blitz Chess Championship winners in each category will be awarded tablet computers.

– Three best players in each category will win cups and medals.

– Five best players will be also awarded prizes in different items in goods.

– The European Youth Team Championship three best teams in each category will win cups and medals and will be awarded different prizes in goods.

– The European Youth Championship in Solving Chess Problems three best solvers in each category will win cups and medals and will be awarded different prizes in goods.

– The Super Final – prize money: 1. = 300€, 2. = 200€ 3. = 100€ 4. = 50€

Immediately after the European Youth Rapid & Blitz Chess Championship, European Individual Rapid & Blitz Chess Championship 2019 will take place in the same venue, in period from 4th-8th December 2019.

Until today, 460 players coming from 34 European federations registered for the Blitz event, while 474 players registered for European Individual Rapid Chess Championship 2019.
