European Senior Team Chess Championship took place in tourist settlement “Ribarsko ostrvo” in Novi Sad, Serbia, from 24th June to 4th July.
The event consisted of two categories: 50+ (for players born in year 1967 or earlier) and 65+ (for players who were born in year 1952 or earlier). The Championship participated 18 teams coming from 10 European federations, and in both categories, the tournament was played in 9 rounds Robin-Round system.
In category 50+ Serbian team has dominated the competition with perfect result and all matches won. Serbia scored 18 match points, out of 8 played games and finished as unattainable sole Winner. Members of the winning team are:
GM Pavlovic Milos (SRB, 2500) with score 5.5/8
GM Todorovic Goran M (SRB, 2444) with score 4/5
GM Drazic Sinisa (SRB, 2426) with score 4/6
IM Arsovic Zoran (SRB, 2422) with perfect score 6/6
GM Ristic Nenad (SRB, 2392) with perfect score 7/7
Second place in the same category went to Italy who won all the matches except the one against the Winners from Serbia when they lost. They scored 14 match points and finished sole second.
Sweden took bronze with score of 12 match points.
Final Standings for category 50+
In Section 65+ Senior Team Chess Champions for 2017 became Russia with perfect score, all matches won and 16 match points.
