European School Chess Championship 2022 opens

The European School Chess Championship 2022 kicked off yesterday in Rhodes, Greece.

The event was opened shortly before the first round with speeches of the ECU President Mr. Zurab Azmaiparashvili the Vice Governor of South Aegean Sea Mr. Nikos Nikolis and ECU Secretary General Mr. Theodoros Tsorbatzoglou.

The ECU president made the first ceremonial move to open the first round of the Championship.

200 players coming from 22 European federations compete in the European School Chess Championship 2022 played within 6 age categories: U7, U9, U11, U13, U15 and U17, open and girls sections separately.

Rhodes Chess Festival 2022 including European School Chess Championship 2022, FIDE World Youth Blitz & Rapid Championships and International Open Tournament “Rhodes Easter Cup” will host more than 1000 participants.
