EU Youth Chess Championship 2016 is underway. The level of the event is very good, competitions are balanced and after four rounds there is not a player with full amount of points!
In category U8 is leading Jakov Klonov (GER) and Blazej Grot (POL), in U10 Deyan Samuil Kostov (BUL) and Valentin Genov (BUL), in U12 Barnabas Persanyi (HUN), Vladimir Pavlov (BUL) and Michal Redzisz (POL), in U14 Bogdan-Emanuel David (ROU) and Arthur Wachtel (GER).
Since beautiful and combative games are seen, the organizers award best games in each category with prize every day. After the first four rounds Jakov Klonov (GER), Mykolas Liandzbergas (LTU), Vladimir Pavlov (BUL), Stella Sankova (SVK), Wiktoria Smietanska (POL), Kristaps Zass (LAT), Jon Englert (GER), Bogdan-Emanuel David (ROU), Liam Hunter (IRL), Nils Norman Lox (GER), Gabija Versekenaite (LTU), Maria Malicka (POL), Barnabas Horvath (HUN), Marian Jurky (SVK), Richard Turcan (SVK) and Zuzana Gresova (CZE) have been awarded.
Additional programme started on Monday with simultaneous game with IM Petr Pisk. There was a big interest to play- 19 participants of our championship had 30 minutes against one hour on the clock of IM Pisk.
After a big fight the score was 10-9 for young players! Sean Hunter, Eoin Hunter, Liam Hunter, Sanjay Menon, Adam Josef Ret, Artjoms Burenkovs, Jerzy Szemplinski, Kristaps Zass beated IM Pisk and draw was made by Mantel Ruben, Stiliyan Nanovski, Hanna Trzaskowska and Aron Pasti. On Tuesday there was a blitz tournament, where 20 players (players of EUYCC, coaches, parents) from 7 countries participated. After very good performance the winner became Ivars Berzinsh (LAT, 8,5 points) ahead of Jiri Tuma (CZE, 8p) and Daniel Dardha (BEL, 8p). All winners received nice presents.
Among others leisure time activities, participants of this tournament mostly visit and use swimming pool, bowling, table tennis and enjoying the beauty of the nature in surroundings.
All games are transmitted on-line, so the parents and trainers either at home or present in the hotel can watch their charges. For present viewers the on-line games are projected in the hotel hall.
