ZURAB AZMAIPARASHVILI ELECTED PRESIDENT OF THE EUROPEAN CHESS UNION

At the elections of the European Chess Union, held in Tromso (Norway), Mr. Zurab Azmaiparashvili of Georgia was elected the ECU President. 33 delegates voted for him, while the confidence in his rival, former President Mr.  Silvio Danailov (Bulgaria) was placed by 18 delegates.

In addition, apart from Mr. Azmaiparashvili, the members of his “ticket” were elected to office:

ECU Vice President – Mr. Finnbj?rn Vang from Faroe Islands;

ECU Deputy President – Mr. Ion Serban Dobronauteanu from Romania;

ECU Secretary General – Mr. Theodoros Tsorbatzoglou from Greece;

ECU Treasurer – Mr. Martin Huba from Slovakia.

Johann Pocksteiner (AUT), Adrian Mikhalchishin (SLO) and Jean-Michel Rapaire (MNC) were elected as individual board members of the ECU.
