The Chess Olympiad Dresden 2008 starts on Wednesday, November 12, with the Opening Ceremony on 8 pm. You can download the up-to-date schedule for the Olympic Tournament and the FIDE Congress (including the ECU General Assembly as "Continental Meeting") here.

Attached to the Circular Letter No. 09/2008 is a revised version of the motion of the ECU Board regarding the Tournament Rules (item 10 of the Agenda of the General Assembly on 22 November 2008 in Dresden).
The voting right in the General Assembly depends on the settlement of the invoices sent to all federations.

After his 6,5:4,5 victory in the World Chess Chmpionship match in Bonn (Germany) World Chess Champion Viswanathan Anand (India) received messages of congratulations from the Indian President Pratibha Patil and from Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

The World Chess Championship 2008 in Bonn is the first WCC match in Germany since 1934. More than 400 journalists are accredited. Today ChessBase has published a press review (in German). In the match between World Champion Viswanathan Anand (India) and Vladimir Kramnik (Russia) Anand now leads by 6:4. After a rest day yesterday Game 11 might be a decisive one. The game will start on Wednesday, October 29, 3 p.m.
